Budget Referendum May 2 On Tuesday, May 2, the polls are open from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. to vote on the 2017-18 budgets for Colebrook and Region 7. Colebrook's budget of $6.2 million, including our share of Region 7, is 3.4% higher than 2016-17. However, the mill rate required to support this budget will increase by 5.5% to 30.9 mills, because of a sharp reduction in state aid proposed by the Governor. Current thinking is that only part of the Governor's cuts will pass the Legislature, hence a 5.5% mill increase rather than the 10.4% presented at the budget hearing on April 12. Any risk that the actual cuts are higher than we have estimated will covered from reserves. Additional information is available at the Town Hall or by contacting Jim Millar on the Board of Finance.
