CHS Friday Night Gathering 7/21/17 @ 7PM

What’s Up Doc? A Colebrook Historical Society Friday Night Gathering On Friday, July 21st, at 7:00 PM, the Colebrook Historical Society will host a social gathering, featuring refreshments and lively conversation. Highlighting the evening will be a presentation by our special guest, Lynn Whelchel, M.D., C.M. Dr. Whelchel, a longtime resident of Colebrook, enjoyed a noted career as a surgeon. He served with the U.S. Army and did a tour in Vietnam. He has degrees from McGill, Dartmouth, and MIT. He did his cardiothoracic surgical residency at Tufts, and had his own surgical practice in Torrington until his retirement in 2001. Since then, Dr. Whelchel has devoted himself to researching the wonderful technological advances (and recessions) in medicine. He’ll share the most exciting of them in his presentation - What’s up Doc?- covering what’s happened to the “Big 3” in the last seventeen years – cancer, circulatory disease (heart, etc.) and brain failure. According to Dr. Whelchel, we’re going to live longer and, hopefully, happier and healthier lives. Do come find out how. The Gathering will be held at the home of the CHS, the historic Seymour Inn – located at the intersection of Routes 183 and 182A in the center of Colebrook. All are most welcome.
