Greetings from Colebrook Town Hall

Greetings from Colebrook Town Hall.

Connecticut law requires municipalities to conduct a general real estate revaluation at least once every five years. The assessment established on the revaluation date is used to determine real estate taxes for the subsequent five years. The Town of Colebrook is scheduled to complete its next revaluation by October 1, 2025, which will be reflected in tax bills due by August 1, 2026.

This week, the Board of Selectmen voted to accept a bid from eQuality Valuation Services, LLC. They were the low bidder from among proposals received. Work will commence this fall.

The Town is accepting applications for energy assistance. Please contact Karen to set an appointment or contact her with any questions at kodell@colebrooktownhall.org.

On Wednesday, September 18th, Colebrook Consolidated School students and staff will join their counterparts from Barkhamsted, Hartland and Norfolk at Barkhamsted Elementary School’s River Day event. All students in grades K-6 will enjoy a day of outdoor learning, including hiking and talks on insect life, fly tying and casting, and beaver habitats.

Northwestern Regional School District #7 is looking for veterans, retired policemen and first responders who need assistance with fall cleanup for its participation in the House of Heroes Project. This initiative includes assistance around the house, performing minor home repairs and improvements—at no cost to recipients. If you are familiar with anyone who might benefit, please email Diane Barrett at dbarrett@nwr7.org or call 860.379.1084, extension 2401.

The Wall That Heals, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Replica & Mobile Education Center, will be on display at Charter Oak Park in Manchester, Conn., from September 19th through the 22nd. The Wall That Heals is a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Learn more here.

Members of our Inland Wetlands and Planning & Zoning commissions are required to participate in ongoing training and certification. We appreciate their time, both in serving the Town and for their participation in continuing education on our behalf. On a related note, Inland Wetlands member Dennis Gomez has been recognized by the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection for completing the Municipal Inland Wetlands Agency Comprehensive Training Program earlier this year.
