November 3, 2026, State Election

The electors of the Town of Colebrook are hereby warned to meet at their respective polling places in said town on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, for the following purposes:
To cast their votes for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Representative in Congress,
State Senator, State Representative, Secretary of the State, Treasurer, Comptroller,
Attorney General, Judge of Probate, and Registrar of Voters

Notice is hereby given that the location of the polling place on Election Day is Town Hall
Meeting Room (2nd floor), 562 Colebrook, Colebrook, Connecticut.

Voting tabulators will be used. The polls will open at six o’clock in the morning (6:00 a.m.) and remain open until eight o’clock in the evening (8:00 p.m.). Early voting will take place from Monday, October 19, 2026, to Sunday, November 1, 2026.

Early voting hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day, except when the hours are extended to 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the last Tuesday and Thursday, October 27 and 29, 2026. Each early voting location will offer Same-Day Election Registration (SDR).
During the early voting period, the Early Voting and SDR location is Town Hall Meeting Room (2nd floor), 562 Colebrook Road, Colebrook, Connecticut 06021.

On Election Day, SDR is available at the Registrar of Voters Office (1st floor) 562 Colebrook Road, Colebrook, Connecticut 06021.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will be Saturday, October 24th, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Torrington Water Pollution Control Facility in Harwinton.

Attached, please find a flyer with a QR code, which you can use to register via Eventbrite on your mobile phone. You will not need a ticket or QR code at the event itself. Staff on site will be able to check registrants in from a list including your first and last name.

The flyer also discusses items eligible (and ineligible) for disposal. Karen Odell at 860.379.3359, ext. 201, or kodell@colebrooktownhall.org<mailto:kodell@colebrooktownhall.org> will be able to register those unable to do so via the QR code. The deadline to contact Karen is end-of-day on Wednesday, October 21st.

Bulk waste pickup is available every week for items that will not fit in your bin. Please call 860.379.1662 by Thursday of each week for Friday morning pickup. Electronic items and building materials are not accepted.

Electronic items may be left at the Town Garage, outside of the storage unit which sits to the right of the garage. Accepted items include:
* Computers/Monitors/Modems/Printers/Keyboards/Mice * TVs/VCRs/DVD Players/Video Game Players * Copiers/Scanners/Fax Machines * iPods/Personal digital assistants * Stereos * Telephones/Cell phones * Tablets/E-readers * Microwaves * Other small appliances

Items NOT accepted include:
• Smoke detectors
• Hazardous materials (lighter fluid/liquids/paint/oils)

Last week, students from Colebrook Consolidated School enjoyed a day of outdoor activities at River Day at the Riverton Fairgrounds, along with their counterparts from Barkhamsted, Hartland and Norfolk. River Day highlights the importance of the federally designated “Wild and Scenic” Farmington River, and is supported financially by the Farmington River Coordinating Committee and Eversource,

The Colebrook Volunteer Fire Department is looking for new members to join their ranks and help our community. There are many ways to serve, everyone is welcome, and no prior training is needed. On Tuesday, October 6th, at 9:15 a.m., following breakfast at the Community & Seniors Center, Fire Marshal Ed Bascetta will discuss, “Do’s and Don’ts of Alternative Heating Methods,” tips for heating your home safely this winter.

Beardsley Library is lending laptop computers and accessories for long-term use to eligible Connecticut residents through LaptopConnectCT. Supplies are limited. Please call the Library at 860.379.6043 to inquire by October 9th. Laptops will be allocated via a random drawing. Learn more at the attached flyer.

The town is accepting sealed bids for the purchase of its 2010 International MaxxForce 10 plow truck with International 7500 SFA 4×2 chassis. The truck has a 350 horsepower International engine with 47,750 miles on it. The minimum bid is $25,000. Bids below minimum will not be considered, and final bid acceptance is at town discretion. Bids should be submitted to Karen Odell at Town Hall by noon on Friday, October 9th. To schedule an appointment to view the vehicle, please call the Town Garage at 860.379.8306, ext. 300.

Upcoming events

On Saturday, October 3rd, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Colebrook Consolidated School Fifth-Grade Class Pumpkin & Mum Sale will be held in the school parking lot. Pumpkins, mums, food, bake sale items and raffle tickets will be sold. Raffles will be drawn at 1 p.m. Proceeds benefit the 2028 Nature’s Classroom trip.
