News from Colebrook Town Hall

Greetings from Colebrook Town Hall.
At this week’s Annual Town Meeting, 11 residents were elected to serve on four boards and commissions, including six new volunteer members, and five returning incumbents.
Ned Catto, Jen Hill and Kerry Jassen were elected to the Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Commission; Tim Brainard, Michael Corbin, Scott Salmon and Carol Sherwood were elected to the Zoning Board of Appeals; Amy Salmon and Mary Stauffer were elected to the Recreation Board; and Becky Bodycoat and Maureen Judge were elected to the Historic District Commission.
We would like to recognize outgoing P&Z Chair Marty Neal, who is retiring from the Commission this month, and thank her for her many years of service to our community. Also, notably, Carol Sherwood will begin her 9th term on the Zoning Board of Appeals, making her one of our longest-serving town board or commission members.
Municipal elections will be held on Tuesday, November 4th, to fill positions on the following: Board of Selectmen (3); Board of Finance (3); Board of Education (3); and Board of Assessment Appeals (2). Also on the ballot are the following elected positions: Town Clerk; Town Treasurer; Tax Collector; and Constables.
Early voting at Town Hall for the November municipal elections is available through Sunday, November 2nd. Learn more about early voting in Colebrook at TownofColebrook.org<link.edgepilot.com/s/aa8a60b5/9CON0DaBxUKEMRnuT74mBA?u=https://www.townofcolebrook.org/>.
STEAP-grant funded paving will begin tomorrow (Friday, October 24th) at the Center Firehouse parking lot, and continue next week on Millbrook, Phelps and Deer Hill Roads. Weather permitting, the project is expected to conclude early the week of November 3rd. Timing was dictated by the release of state funds and the paving contractor’s schedule. Expect traffic delays.
At this week’s School Building Committee meeting, final work on the Colebrook Consolidated School HVAC project was discussed, with the new dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) units slated to go live next week. Our new DOAS units will condition fresh outdoor air before delivering it to the building, and are designed to improve indoor air quality, precisely control humidity, and reduce energy demands. The HVAC project also included an electrical upgrade, new gas-fired boilers, scalable air conditioning in parts of the building, and drainage/water mitigation. The project is expected to come in on budget and be completed prior to the end-of-year deadline for state cost-share funding.
The Colebrook Volunteer Fire Department is looking for new members to join their ranks and help our community. Everyone is welcome, and no prior training is needed. For more information, contact Todd Correll at 860.459.0292.
