Greetings from Colebrook Town Hall.
More than 40 attended our Colebrook Veterans Day Luncheon earlier today at the Community & Senior Center to celebrate Veterans Day 2025, and honor our Veterans. Retired Lieutenant Colonel Scott Norton served as master of ceremonies.
Breakfast is available at the Community & Senior Center every Tuesday from 8-9:15 a.m. for $6 (no reservation needed). Lunch is every Thursday at noon for $7, with advance registration requested by 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Colebrook Holiday Fair will be held on Saturday, December 13th, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. If you’d like to participate as a vendor, tables are available. Please contact colebrookholidayfair@gmail.com.
You can also support the Fair by donating items for the Children’s Shopping Table in the collection bins in Town Hall, the Community & Senior Center and the Post Office.
All Colebrook property owners should have received their Revaluation Notice of Assessment Change recently. The assessed value is 70% of market value per state statute. Notices do not reflect any exemptions or credits for which you may qualify.
The Revaluation Notice includes your current assessment (from 2020) and your new proposed assessment based on the October 1st, 2025 market value. Do not use the current mill rate to estimate your future taxes. The rate will change and using it now will result in an inaccurate calculation. The new mill rate will be established by the Board of Finance next spring. They will begin work on the FY 26/27 budget during February, with the Town Budget Hearing to take place in April, followed by referendum in May. The mill rate for FY 2026/27 will be driven by the new Grand List and the approved FY 26/27 town
budget.
If you believe your new assessment is incorrect, you may request an informal telephone hearing with a representative from eQuality Valuation Services, the organization that conducted the revaluation, at 800.827.6720, by November 17th. Residential hearings will be conducted today through November 18th.
The Colebrook Volunteer Fire Department is looking for new members to join their ranks and help our community. Everyone is welcome, and no prior training is needed. For more information, contact Todd Correll at 860.459.0292.
The Colebrook Associates Food Pantry is located in the vestibule of the Community & Senior Center and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. until noon on Friday. Donations may be left at the pantry, or in the collection bin in the Post Office.
The town is currently accepting applications for energy assistance. Please contact Karen Odell to set up an appointment, or for any questions, at kodell@colebrooktownhall.org.
