Greetings from Colebrook Town Hall.

With possibly significant snowfall predicted for Sunday night and into Monday, Public Works is making plans to make sure we’re ready to go for winter storm Benjamin, and will bring on additional help, if/as needed. During last weekend’s storm, two of our plow trucks were out of commission for a time. Heading into this weekend, all of our vehicles are ready to go, and we have plenty of salt in stock.

If the most severe predictions (e.g., 4-5 inches per hour) come to pass, plowing will be paused during periods when visibility is deemed to be unsafe. Parking lots will be plowed at the conclusion of the storm.

Please refrain from blowing, plowing or shoveling snow into the street, especially after it has been plowed. These areas re-freeze and the snow blown into the road creates a hazard for those traveling on the roads. When driving, please extend courtesy to our plow drivers.

Sand mix is available at the Town Garage (43 Sandy Brook Road) for Colebrook residents, by hand bucket. Limit 2 buckets, per household, per winter storm event. Please bring your own shovel.

At this week’s Inland Wetlands Agency meeting, the town submitted an application to correct and restore five culverts to improve drainage on Pisgah Mountain Road. This project is part of a long-term maintenance plan being developed by the Pisgah Mountain Road Advisory Committee to protect and preserve this historic and scenic roadway. Also, beginning with the FY 26/27 budget, and reflecting additional state funding for roadway maintenance, the town will have a line item specifically for maintenance of our 4.75 miles of unimproved (i.e., dirt/gravel) roads.

Colebrook Consolidated School Superintendent Bob Gilbert will be presenting the FY 26/27 Board of Education budget to the PTO and any interested community members on Wednesday, January 28th. at 7 pm in the school library.
