News from Colebrook Town Hall

Greetings from Colebrook Town Hall.

Town Hall will be closed on Monday, October 12th, in observance of Columbus Day. Trash pickup will stay on a regular schedule next week.

Our new, 10-passenger wheelchair-accessible Community & Senior Center Ford transit has arrived. The van was purchased with town capital funds and a state grant and will be dedicated next week (October 15th) following the October Birthday Lunch at the Center. This new van will be used for Community & Senior Center outings, and medical appointments when wheelchair accessibility is needed. We will be selling our current 2014 van. Details to follow.

Our Annual Town Meeting will be held on Monday, October 19th, at 8 p.m. in the second-floor meeting room at Colebrook Town Hall. That night, we’ll be electing members and alternates for the following: Planning & Zoning Commission; Zoning Board of Appeals; Recreation Board; and Historic District Commission.

Early voting at Town Hall for the November State and Federal elections will be available beginning Monday, October 19th. Learn more at the attached flyer.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will be Saturday, October 24th, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Torrington Water Pollution Control Facility in Harwinton. Attached, please find a flyer with a QR code, which you can use to register via Eventbrite on your mobile phone. You will not need a ticket or QR code at the event. Staff on site will be able to check registrants in from a list including your first and last name.

The flyer also discusses items eligible (and ineligible) for disposal. The deadline to contact Karen is end-of-day on Wednesday, October 21st.

Beardsley Library is lending laptop computers and accessories for long-term use to eligible Connecticut residents through LaptopConnectCT. Supplies are limited. Please call the Library at 860.379.6043 to inquire by tomorrow, October 9th. Laptops will be allocated via a random drawing. Learn more at the attached flyer.

The town is accepting sealed bids for the purchase of its 2010 International MaxxForce 10 plow truck with International 7500 SFA 4×2 chassis. The truck has a 350 horsepower International engine with 47,750 miles on it. The minimum bid is $25,000. Bids below minimum will not be considered, and final bid acceptance is at town discretion. Bids should be submitted to Karen Odell at Town Hall by noon tomorrow, Friday, October 9th.
