Greetings from Colebrook Town Hall.

The Department of Public Works reports they will begin crack sealing town roads next week, weather permitting, with chip sealing to follow in the coming weeks. Roads being treated (in this order) include: Beech Hill Rd.; Shantry Rd.; Bunnell St.; Bunnell St. Ext.; Smith Hill Rd.; Phelps Rd.; Pine Rd.; and Old Colebrook Rd.

Volunteers are needed for the 81st Colebrook Labor Day Fair, to be held on Saturday, September 5th. If you’re able to volunteer, please contact Karen Odell at kodell@colebrooktownhall.org.

One of the highlights of the Labor Day Fair is the always exciting Cardboard Regatta, a fun and easy way for families and kids of all ages to participate in the day’s festivities. Cardboard boats are easy to make and materials (3 large sheets of cardboard and 2 rolls of duct tape) are available for $10 at Town Hall. Additional cardboard is also available for $5 a sheet. Learn how to build a cardboard boat here.

The Colebrook Recreation Cow Plop Raffle sponsored by Pinney Stables will be held from 1-3 p.m. during the Fair at the Colebrook Ball Field on Cooper Lane. Tickets can be purchased at Facebook.com/colebrookctfair, or from Karen at Town Hall. Tickets are $20 with a cash prize of 20% of total ticket sales. Proceeds benefit Colebrook Recreation programs.

The Community & Senior Center is looking for volunteers to support its presence at the Fair. Although the requests for raw materials have been filled, they can still use pies and raffle baskets. What they especially need is volunteer time for setting up, working the fair and cleaning up. Please use the following Sign-Up Genius link to volunteer: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090A49A8A928AAFD0-64718002-thecolebrook.

Breakfast is served at the Community & Senior Center every Tuesday from 8-9:15 a.m. for $6. Lunch is available Thursdays at noon for $7, except when an out-to-lunch event is scheduled (advance registration is required for lunch). Bingo is held every Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. Stay up to date with programming and events at the Center on Facebook.

At this week’s Board of Selectmen meeting John Fernandez (Regular Member) and Jim Bickford (Alternate Member) were appointed to the Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Commission. P&Z meets the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Colebrook Town Hall.

Zoning Enforcement Officer Jeremy DeCarli supports the Planning & Zoning Commission. Jeremy’s office hours in the Town Hall Land Use office are from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Jeremy is available to answer your questions regarding zoning compliance—and can be reached at 860.379.3359, extension 209, or at zoningofficer@colebrooktownhall.org.
