Greetings from Colebrook Town Hall.
Curbside trash and recycling pickup are pushed back one day this week. Today’s pickup will be tomorrow. Tomorrow’s will be on Saturday.
Between June 3rd and June 10th the Connecticut Department of Transportation will be performing joint crack sealing on Route 8 in Colebrook from .43 miles north of Sandy Brook Road to the Massachusetts state line.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will be Saturday, June 20th, at the Falls Village Public Works Garage (100 Railroad St, Falls Village). This semi-annual event, organized and run by the Northwest Hills Council of Governments, is moving to online registration this year.
Attached, please find a QR code, with which you can use to register via Eventbrite on your mobile phone. You will not need a ticket or QR code at the event. Staff on site will be able to check registrants in from a list including your first and last name.
Also attached is a flyer discussing items eligible for disposal at Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day. The deadline to contact Karen is end-of-day on Wednesday, June 17th.
Bear-resistant curbside rollout carts are available to Colebrook residents for $102/year and are billed annually in advance when you enroll. June is Dog License Month. All dogs over the age of six months are required by Connecticut law to be licensed. For your convenience, beginning June 1st dog license renewal will be available online on the town website at (www.townofcolebrook.org/town-clerk/<(www.townofcolebrook.org/town-clerk/>). The online service is available for dogs previously licensed in Colebrook with a current rabies certificate on file and will include a one-dollar processing fee. In-person licensing is available at the Town Clerk’s office during regular business hours. To renew by mail, please include a check and a self-addressed, stamped, return envelope. Please make checks payable to the “Colebrook Town Clerk.” Please contact the Town Clerk’s office (860) 379-3359, extension 203, with any questions.
Breakfast is served every Tuesday at the Community & Senior Center from 8-9:15 a.m. for $6 (no reservation needed). Lunch is every Thursday at noon for $7, with advance registration requested by 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Northwest Regional 7 (NWR7) high school graduation will take place on Monday, June 15th, at the Warner Theatre in Torrington, and the 8th grade moving up ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 16th, at NWR7.
Colebrook Consolidated School’s (CCS) 6th grade promotion ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 18th, at the school. The final day of the school year at CCS is Friday, June 19th.
The Town Pond will open for the season on Saturday, June 20th.
The Colebrook Volunteer Fire Department is looking for new members to join their ranks and help our community. There are many ways to serve, everyone is welcome, and no prior training is needed. For more information, contact Todd Correll at 860.459.0292.
The Colebrook Associates food pantry, located in the vestibule of the Community & Senior Center, is open Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m.-noon. Donations may be left at the pantry, or in the collection bin in the Post Office.
Next week concludes our youth baseball season at Colebrook Field. On Monday, June 1st, the Norbrook Cardinals host the New Hartford Astros. On Tuesday, June 2nd, the Colebrook Yard Goats host the Norfolk Rockies. On Wednesday, June 3rd, the Norbrook Cardinals host the Barkhamsted Phillies.
Upcoming events
On Saturday, June 6th, from 10-11:30 a.m., the Colebrook Conservation Commission and the US Army Corps of Engineers are hosting a 1-mile walk around the Beaver Pond Trail. The trail is located at the scenic 388-acre Colebrook River Lake property owned and maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Learn more on the attached flyer. On Sunday, June 7th, at 3 p.m. the Colebrook Historical Society<www.colebrookhistoricalsociety.org/> will host an Open House to kick off its 2026 summer exhibit, “Honoring Colebrook Veterans.” Refreshments will be served at the open house. You may also view the exhibit and/or tour the Seymour Inn when the Historical Society opens on Saturdays and Sundays (11 a.m.-1 p.m.) beginning on Saturday, June 13th, and through the end of summer.
On Saturday, June 20th, from 9 a.m.-noon, a Monthly Veterans Coffee House will be held at the Winsted VFW Post 296 on Route 8. This is a dedicated space for Veterans to gather and socialize. Coffee, tea, bottled water, and soda, along with donuts, pastries, and cookies will be provided. On Sunday, June 28th, at 4 p.m. the Colebrook Land Conservancy<colebrooklandconservancy.org/> will host “Snakes Alive!” in the Colebrook Town Hall second floor meeting room. Please join Jay Kaplan from the Roaring Brook Nature Center for a personal, up-close look at a variety of live snake species (none venomous). This is a free event and refreshments will be served.
